Current Bill Summary

SCS/SBs 26 & 126 - This act allows both World War I and World War II veterans to receive high school diplomas. It also allows veterans meeting the requirements of this section to receive a diploma posthumously.

Authority to award diplomas is given to both local school boards and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to guarantee that veterans who attended high schools that no longer exist will have more than one avenue to pursue should they encounter difficulty receiving a diploma from their local school board.

This act is similar to TAT HCS/HBs 441, 94 & 244 (2001).
